2 EARS & 1 MOUTH

A sister mentioned the above in conversation. I was probably talking too much. It is important to listen and consider others better than one’s self. What does the bible say ?

Jas 3: v4. Behold also the ships, which though [they be] so great, and [are] driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.

V5. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

V6. And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

V7. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

V8. But the tongue can no man tame; [it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

V9. Therewith bless we YahwehShua, even the Father (Yahweh); and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of YahwehShua.

V10. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

V11. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet [water] and bitter?

V12. Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? Either a vine, figs? So [can] no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

V13. Who [is] a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

Pro 27: v1. Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth

V2. Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

Pro 13: v3. He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: [but] he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

Pro 8: v13. The fear of Yahweh [is] to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward (crookedness/perverse/distortion) mouth, do I hate.

Pro 4: v24. Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

Pro 6: v1. My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, [if] thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,

V2. Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

Jas 1: v26. If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion [is] vain.

Mat 12: v36. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Luk 19: v22. And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, [thou] wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:

Psa 39: v1. I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.

Consider others better than yourself, else you have pride.

Php 2: v2. Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be like minded, having the same love, [being] of one accord, of one mind.

V3. [Let] nothing [be done] through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

V4. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Let your words be few (so you can listen).

Ecc 5: v1. Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of Yahweh, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.

V2. Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter [any] thing before Yahweh: for Yahweh [is] in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few

Pro 17: v27. He that hath knowledge spareth his words: [and] a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

Jas 5: v12. But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and [your] nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

Mat 6: v7. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do:] for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Pro 10: v19. In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips [is] wise.

What should be in your mouth?

Deu 30: v14. But the word [is] very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

Jos 1: v8. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success

Think before speaking. You need to honor what comes out of your mouth.

Num 30: v2. If a man vow a vow unto Yahweh, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth

Make sure what you're hearing is the truth. Joshua (Yahshua is the correct name, there was no J in the Hebrew language at that time) was supposed to kill everyone in Gibeon, but was fooled by the Gibeonites telling him they were from a faraway land. They lied to Yahshua and used Yahweh’s name to mislead him. Yahshua therefore did not obey what he was told to do by our Creator.

Jos 9: v3. And when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done unto Jericho and to Ai,

V4. They did work wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles, old, and rent, and bound up;

V5. And old shoes and clouted upon their feet, and old garments upon them; and all the bread of their provision was dry [and] mouldy.

V6. And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: now therefore make ye a league with us.

V7. And the men of Israel said unto the Hivites, Peradventure ye dwell among us; and how shall we make a league with you?

V8. And they said unto Joshua, We [are] thy servants. And Joshua said unto them, Who [are] ye? And from whence come ye?

V9. And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name Yahweh thy Creator (notice they used the name Yahweh to fool them, this will happen in the end times as well): for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,

V10. And all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that [were] beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which [was] at Ashtaroth.

V11. Wherefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spake to us, saying, Take victuals with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say unto them, We [are] your servants: therefore now make ye a league with us.

V12. This our bread we took hot [for] our provision out of our houses on the day we came forth to go unto you; but now, behold, it is dry, and it is mouldy:

V13. And these bottles of wine, which we filled, [were] new; and, behold, they be rent: and these our garments and our shoes are become old by reason of the very long journey.

V14. And the men (of Joshua) took of their victuals, and asked not [counsel] at the mouth of Yahweh.

V15. And Joshua made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live: and the princes of the congregation sware unto them.

V16. And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they [were] their neighbours, and [that] they dwelt among them.

V17. And the children of Israel journeyed, and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities [were] Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kirjath-jearim.

V18. And the children of Israel smote them not, because the princes of the congregation had sworn unto them by Yahweh, Creator of Israel. And all the congregation murmured against the princes.

V19. But all the princes said unto all the congregation, We have sworn unto them by Yahweh El of Israel: now therefore we may not touch them.

V20. This we will do to them; we will even let them live, lest wrath be upon us, because of the oath which we sware unto them.

V21. And the princes said unto them, Let them live; but let them be hewers of wood and drawers of water unto all the congregation; as the princes had promised them.

V22. And Joshua called for them, and he spake unto them, saying, Wherefore have ye beguiled us, saying, We [are] very far from you; when ye dwell among us?

V23. Now therefore ye [are] cursed, and there shall none of you be freed from being bondmen, and hewers of wood and drawers of water for the house of my El.

V24. And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that Yahweh thy El commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were sore afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing.

V25. And now, behold, we [are] in thine hand: as it seemeth good and right unto thee to do unto us, do.

V26. And so did he unto them, and delivered them out of the hand of the children of Israel, that they slew them not.

V27. And Joshua made them that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation, and for the altar of Yahweh, even unto this day, in the place which he should choose.

My only hope.

Pro 17: v28. Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: [and] he that shutteth his lips [is esteemed] a man of understanding.
