Philemon

Phm 1: v3. Grace to you, and peace, from Yahweh our Father and his Son YahwehShua Messiah.

Paul in Rome prison writing this letter to Philemon regarding Philemon's runaway Onesimus.

Phm 1: v1. Paul, a prisoner of YahwehShua Messiah, and Timothy [our] brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,

V2. And to [our] beloved Apphia*, and Archippus our fellowsoldier, and to the assembly in thy house:

*Apphia likely the wife of Philemon and mother of Archippus. Early assemblies often met in homes of wealthy patrons. Her domestic skills were lilely essential for hosting worship gatherings or holy convocations and meals. Some scholars believe she may have financially supported the ministry of New Covenant similar Lydia of Philippi. Acts 16:V14. And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped YahwehShua, heard [us:] whose heart YahwehShua Messiah opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. V15. And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought [us,] saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to YahwehShua Messiah, come into my house, and abide [there.] And she constrained us. Acts 16: V37. But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast [us] into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? Nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out. V38. And the serjeants told these words unto the magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were Romans. V39. And they came and besought them, and brought [them] out, and desired [them] to depart out of the city. V40. And they went out of the prison, and entered into [the house of] Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed. Some believe she was martyred along with Philemon and Archippus.

V3. Grace to you, and peace, from Yahweh our Father and the Son YahwehShua Messiah.

V4. I thank my Father Yahweh, making mention of thee always in my prayers (in the name of YahwehShua Messiah the Son),

V5. Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward YahwehShua Messiah, and toward all Saints;

V6. That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in YahwehShua Messiah.

V7. For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the Saints are refreshed by thee, brother.

V8. Wherefore, though I might be much bold in YahwehShua Messiah to enjoin thee that which is convenient,

V9. Yet for love’s sake I rather beseech [thee,] being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of YahwehShua Messiah.

V10. I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:

V11. Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:

V12. Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:

V13. Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:

V14. But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.

V15. For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;

V16. Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in YahwehShua Messiah?

V17. If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.

V18. If he hath wronged thee, or oweth [thee] ought, put that on mine account;

V19. I Paul have written [it] with mine own hand, I will repay [it:] albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.

V20. Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in YahwehShua Messiah: refresh my bowels in YahwehShua Messiah.

V21. Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.

V22. But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.

V23. There salute thee Epaphras*, my fellowprisoner in YahwehShua  Messiah;

*Col 1:V7. As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of YahwehShua Messiah; Col 4:V12. Epaphras, who is [one] of you, a servant of YahwehShua Messiah, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of Yahweh the Father. V13. For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them [that are] in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis. Epaphras brought the New Covenant to Colossae and neighboring Laodicea and Hierapolis!

Epaphras

Colossae, Laodicea, Hierapolis

V24. Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers.*

*Marcus refers to John Mark (Hebrew & Roman name) author of Mark, companion of Peter and Paul, Barnabas’s cousin. He accompanied Paul and Barnabas on their 1st journey but left them! Acts 15: 37. And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.V38. But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.V39. And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus; Later he became a valued colleague of Paul! 2 Tim 4:V11. Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry. John Mark spiritual son of Peter. 1 Peter 5:V13. The [Assembly that is] at Babylon, elected together with [you,] saluteth you; and [so doth] Marcus my son. John Mark was believed to have compiled the book of Mark from Peter’s eyewitness accounts! Aristarchus was companion of Paul and endured hardships alongside Paul. Acts 27: V2. And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; [one] Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us. Acts 19: V27. So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great deity Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.V28. And when they heard [these sayings,] they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great [is] Diana of the Ephesians.V29. And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre. Demas initally helped Paul spread the New Covenant then later left him! Col 4:V12. V14. Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you. 2 Tim 4:V10. For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia. Lucas refers to Luke the Greek doctor who wrote Luke & Acts. He emphasized Yahweh incarnate’s role as a healer and gives detailed accounts of our Creator’s healing miracles more than any other writers! He was likely from Antioch, Syria making him the only known Gentile writer of the New Covenant!

V25. The grace of our YahwehShua Messiah [be] with your spirit. Amen.

Philemon was converted and used his wealth to host an assembly in his home. He had a runaway slave, Onesimus, who also was converted by YahwehShua Messiah. Onesimus and Paul broke Roman law. However Paul appeals on behalf of YahwehShua Messiah to Philemon to forgive Onesimus  and himself.

Mat 6: v14. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father (Yahweh) will also forgive you:

V15. But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father (Yahweh) forgive your trespasses.

Philemon forgives Onesimus and Paul. Philemon sets Onesimus free and Onesimus becomes elder at Ephesus and preached the beauty of celibacy. The Roman emperor hated that message and had him arrested and tortured for 18 days. He would not renounce YahwehShua Messiah, so he was ordered tortured, stoned, and beheaded (martyred). Philemon  was stoned to death (martyred). Paul had his legs crushed other historians say beheaded (martyred). All were martyred at different times for the name YahwehShua Messiah!

Act 14: v22. Confirming the souls of the disciples, [and] exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the Kingdom of Yahweh and YahwehShua.

HalleluYahwehshua!
