THE DIVINE NAME

Due to unfounded Jewish fears of bringing upon themselves a possible retribution for breaking the third commandment, they began refusing to pronounce the divine name.  It became normal practice to substitute a title, “Lord” (Adonai) for the name Yahweh when reading aloud.  To indicate this replacement, the Masorites inserted the vowels from Adonai under the countenance of Yahweh resulting in a word, Yehovah, which came to be pronounced as Jehovah.  Scholars of the Renaissance period misunderstood the purpose of vowel pointing and began pronouncing the name as Jehovah.  This erroneous pronunciation became so common that many are still generally unwilling to accept the more correct pronunciation, Yahweh.  The reference to this is Appendix E, page 726, of the Old Testament study Bible Psalms, which is part of the complete Biblical Library, Copyright 1996 Springfield, Missouri USA.

This practice of substituting titles for the actual name led to Yahweh being found in the bible less and less.  Initially the word Yahweh was in the Bible nearly 7000 times, and by the time our Creator was in the flesh or incarnate, it was in the Bible less than 2000 times.  In fact, no language had the letter J until the last 500 years.   Is the family and personal name of the Creator and his Father important? What does the Bible say about the name?

“Is any sick among you?  Let him call for the elders of the ecclesia and let them pray over him, having anointed him with oil in the name of the Master,” (currently Yahweh Shua) James 5:14.  Our Creator says in John 16:23, “Verily, verily, I say unto you whatsoever you shall ask the Father in My name he will give you.”  Thus, we should pray to Yahweh the Father in the name of his Son, Yahweh Shua, for healing.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.  Many other scriptures say that we are to give him glory, use his name, we are to dance to His name, lift our hands up to His name, we should bless His name, His name is our banner, we are to walk in His name, and we are to rejoice in His name.  His name alone is excellent, His name defends and helps us, His name endures forever, His name is great, His name is Yahweh.

The name Yahweh is the eternal name of the family and our Creator.  Luke 11:52 says “Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.” Our Creator’s father’s name is Yahweh, and the resurrected (inherited) name of the Messiah is Yahweh Shua. The name Yahweh is the key of knowledge and power.

If you find this interesting, pray to the Father Yahweh in the name of his resurrected Son, Yahweh Shua, for truth and read the scriptures regarding His name. Three Concepts of Heaven and Hell

Many people are confused by the terms of heaven and hell, as used in the scriptures.  This article will attempt to aid your understanding.

Three concepts for heaven include the first heaven, i.e., the sky or the clouds.  The second heaven is the stars and the universe, and the third heaven is the eternal seat of the Father and is unseen. Three concepts of hell include this life, which is the darkness below, the second is the grave or tomb, and the third hell is the lake of fire.

In Genesis 28:12, Jacob had a dream and saw a vision of a ladder going from the earth up into heaven, and angels ascending and descending.  In Deuteronomy 10:14, the heaven and the heaven of heavens are mentioned.  The Hebrew word, shammah, Hebrew 8064, can mean sky or can mean celestial bodies such as our universe. The heaven of heavens likely means the abode of the Father.  Heaven of the heavens is also mentioned in 1 Kings 8:27, and Ezekiel 1:4 that describes it as a throne coming from the far North.  In 2 Corinthians 12:2-4, Paul talks about being called up to paradise.  We know this is only a vision, as the book of John 3:13 notes that no one has been to heaven and returned to earth, except our Creator.  Also, since no one has seen the Father except the Son, (John 1:18, John 5:37, John 6:46) means that the vision of the third heaven or throne room by Ezekiel 1 and John, in Revelation 4 are visions of the throne room of our Creator.  Therefore, in Job 1, the adversary was dealing with our Creator, and take note that he had to get permission from our Creator to place evil thoughts into the Sabeans that slain the servants of Job in Job 1:15.  James 1:13 states: let no man say when he is tested, I am tested of Yahweh: for Yahweh cannot be tested with evil neither tempteth he any man.  Thus, the accuser, the adversary, is the one accusing the called out and gets permission to test us as he did accusing Job regarding his hedge, etc., Job 1:10-11.

Thus. the three concepts of heaven are the first heaven which would be the visible sky, clouds, thunder, and rain.  The second heaven would include the universe and visible stars, solar system, etc., and the third heaven would be the throne room of the Son, as we know the throne room of the Father has only been seen by the Son our Creator.

Like the concept of three heavens, there is also the concept of three hells.  The first hell being this life, the second hell being the grave and the third hell a burning fire.

John 8:12 notes that we should be the light of the world and this is repeated in Matthew 5:14-16. Proverbs 6:23 says that the commandments are a lamp, and the law is the light and reproofs of instruction are the way of life.  Luke 4:5-6 shows the adversary telling our Creator that all the kingdoms of the world are his and our Creator did not deny that this is Satan’s kingdom.  Thankfully, however, he must get permission to test people.

The second hell is the grave or tomb, Revelation 11:9.  In Mark 9:43, the word for hell is the Greek word, 1067, from a noun meaning “Gehennah.”  Gehennah was the garbage dump of Jerusalem to the south of the city that had a constant fire for trash, animals, and criminals, and was also a likely location for child sacrifices, 2 Kings 23:10 and Jeremiah 7:31-33.

Thus, the second hell is physical death where our body returns to the dust of the earth and our mind, which is asleep, returns to the Father who gave it.  Thus, the second hell is the grave, Matthew 5:29-30.  Scriptures such as Mark 9:48 says the worm does not die and some translations say maggots never die.  However, we know that only two eternal beings are the Father and the Son.  Furthermore, Jonah was in the fish for just three days, however the scriptures say “forever” using the Hebrew word olam, 5769, (see the website article from 10/27/16 regarding the terms forever or age abiding).

Therefore, being in the grave “forever” can be just three days or even less.  It is a period of time, but we have no thoughts and no feelings and we are essentially asleep until our Creator awakens us again.

The third concept of hell is the lake of fire in which the beast and false messiah are sent to, Revelation 19:20, and then later the adversary or devil plus any demons that fail to repent, Revelation 20:10.  Again, the terms forever and ever are incorrect.  The actual word is aion, 1625, meaning a period of time, and likely a short period of time such as with Jonah who was in the belly “forever and ever” but in reality, only three days.  It is possible that the lake of fire will only be a few microseconds as it will instantly destroy any physical or spiritual body. Though the body is instantly destroyed, the spirit or mind, which is asleep goes back to the Father (see article on life and death).  Thus no one is lost forever.

Our Creator has a great plan that he is carrying out, which the Father and the Son designed before anything was created. If you are called in this present life and are able to overcome the adversary, you will be resurrected at the seventh trumpet, as part of the 144,000 saints.  If you are not called in this life, you will have a second chance after the one thousand years to overcome the adversary when he is let out for a 100-year period, during the Last Great Day. This group of of saints will likely be the innumerable multitude. Finally, if you fail to repent or overcome, you will be reconciled and live outside the Kingdom forever, and in this case, it will be eternal.  The Father and Son have a great plan for everyone and no one will be lost.

What is the role of women in the scriptures?

Recently we received an email that was questioning the role of women in scripture, as indicated in a previous article.  This short article attempts to address this question.

Perhaps it may help the reader to review some examples of women of faith found in scripture.

A number of women have played a major role in Messiah’s lineage:

·      Miriam (aka Mary), the mother of Yahshua

·      Ruth:  her son was the father of Jesse who became the father of David

·      Rachel who was greatly respected as like Leah “built the house of Israel,” Ruth 4:11

·      Leah – see above

Esther, who had boldly violated the king’s law by entering the inner court without being called. By her subsequent actions, she saved all the Jews in the king’s provinces.

Next is Rahab, “the harlot” (there is some question as to whether Rahab was actually a harlot.)  She is mentioned in Hebrews 11, which is often referred to as the faith chapter, as she demonstrated her faith by works in sending the messengers the wrong direction.  James 2:25 supports this.

Hannah, the wife of Elkanah, who had been barren for many years and in her grief prayed earnestly for a male son and further promising that if her request were granted, her son would be dedicated to Yahweh’s service and would serve Eli, the priest.  After her son, Samuel, was weaned, she took him to Eli to begin his service.

In Judges 5:24, the following is said of Jael:  ‘Blessed above women shall Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.”

1Samuel 25 speaks of Abigail, the wife of a very evil man named Nabal.  David spoke to Abigail saying, “blessed be thy advice and blessed be thou which has kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.”  After Nabal’s death, David married Abigail.

A nameless woman who poured ointment on Yahshua’s head was spoken of by Yahshua in Matthew 26:13 and in Mark 14:9, saying, “Wheresoever this evangel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.”

In Luke 7:44-50, a woman who washed Yahshua’s feet with her tears is mentioned.

The “poor widow” who gave a large donation is praised in Mark 12:41-44.

Proverbs 31:10-31 describes the virtuous woman, “favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain:  but a woman that feareth Yahweh, she shall be praised.”

Some may inquire about Deborah who is called a prophetess as well as a judge.  E. W. Bullinger, the biblical scholar and author of The Companion Bible, in his footnotes to chapter 4 of Judges, states that Deborah was not a judge in the strictest sense of the title, and questions whether she had ever received a divine appointment.

It seems to me that the women that are praised in scripture played a supportive role to their husbands, the ecclesia, or directly to Yahshua. That is not to say they were unimportant, but simply that their roles were different than that of men.  Yahshua makes a point of praising their actions.  Women in the body of Messiah are co-inheritors and are thus given due respect.  In the ecclesia, elders are always men, as are deacons in large assemblies.  As Yahshua submitted to the Father’s great plan, these men in leadership roles submit to Yahweh Shua.

Yom Teruah: The day of shouting: The return of Messiah and the rise of spiritual and physical Israel

Editor’s Note: This article was originally posted on this site on 9/30/19. It was mistakenly removed. The author is the late Elder Bob Bondurant.

With the passing of Pentecost, it is now time for the fall feasts of Yahweh. According to the Old Covenant, there are four feasts recorded in Leviticus 23. However, there has been a change under the New Covenant, as found in the Doctrine of Messiah in Hebrews 6: 1-2.  The New Covenant fall feasts only include Yom Teruah and Yom Gadol, the last great day.  This new list pertains only to those called to be firstfruits.

Yom Teruah or the Day of Shouting begins on the first day of the seventh Hebrew month. According to the Gregorian calendar, this will be from sunset on September 29 to sunset on September 30, 2019.

Since this is the first day of the month, it is also a new moon. All Hebrew months begin with the sighting of a new moon. Yahweh’s year is different than man’s year. The year does not begin on January first, in the midst of winter. Yahweh’s year begins in the spring at the time of the vernal equinox. The vernal equinox represents the end of the sun’s circuit for the previous year and the beginning of the new year.

The sun determines the year. It is the moon that determines the start of a month. Once the vernal equinox occurs, the first new moon represents the first day of the first month of the year.  According to Micah 4: 2: “the law shall go forth from Zion”. We follow the law and recognize all calendar calculations beginning with Jerusalem. Many groups use a new moon sighted in their own geographical area which is not according to Scripture.

You may be more familiar with this day as the Feast of Trumpets.  You will find this in the King James Version of Leviticus 23: 24:  “Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, Ye shall have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.”

But now, consider Young’s Literal Translation of this same verse:  “Speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, in the seventh month in the first of the month, ye shall have a sabbath, A MEMORIAL OF SHOUTING, a holy convocation.” (Emphasis mine)

Young’s Literal Translation stays very close to the actual Hebrew. If the Hebrew uses a past tense, but the English translation uses the present tense, the difference is made clear in Young’s version. This is the case with Leviticus 23: 24.  The Hebrew rendering is more accurate as shouting than trumpets.

For additional insights into the return of Messiah, please review the book of Joshua chapter 6. This relates what happened after the children of Israel entered the promised land under the leadership of Joshua. (The Hebrew is actually Yahshua, which is the same name as the birth name of Messiah.)

After completing forty years in the wilderness, they finally entered the promised land. Their first act was to observe Passover on the 14th of the first month. They did this near the Canaanite city of Jericho. Near the end of chapter 5, Joshua (Yahshua) encountered Yahweh of Hosts.  Yahweh gave very specific instructions to Yahshua as to how to conquer the city of Jericho.

This operation was to occur during a seven-day period. On the first six days, the priests, carrying the Ark of the Covenant, and preceded by soldiers, would make one circuit around the city. The priest carried trumpets and blew them each of the six days. The seventh day was conducted differently. This time the priests who bore the Ark and the soldiers marched seven times around the city. This time after the priests blew the trumpets, the people gave a shout as instructed by Joshua. (Yahshua)  After the shout, the walls of Jericho came tumbling down. The Israelites then entered the city and destroyed it, including people and animals.

What can we learn from this? The book of Revelation describes a very similar scenario occurring when Messiah returns. Except at that event the angels are blowing the trumpets. According to 1 Thessalonians 4: 16:  “For the Sovereign  himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, the voice of the archangel and with the trump of Elohim: and the dead in Messiah shall rise first.”  Just as Jericho was destroyed, YahwehShua will destroy the kingdoms of the earth and put away Satan for a thousand years. The destruction of Jericho and the world’s kingdoms in Revelation are worthy of a deeper study and meditation. They both are preceded by a shout. The seventh Hebrew month is preceded by a Day of Shouting. We firstfruits have much to shout about!

Notice in 1 Thessalonians 4: 16, we are told that the dead IN MESSIAH RISE FIRST. These are the 144,000 firstfruits referred to in Revelation 14: 1. This occurs in the seventh age. The firstfruits are called and sealed in the previous 6th age. The first six ages are periods of preparation for the resurrection of the firstfruits in the seventh age. Compare this to the first six circuits made by the Israelites around Jericho. That too was preparation for the major event to occur on the seventh day.

But there is even more that occurs at the return of Messiah! Yes, He is resurrecting the firstfruits, but He is also going to restore the promised land to the true descendants of Jacob.  He and His angels will seek out the scattered true Israelites and lead them to the promised land. It was the right hand of Moses, Yahshua, who first led the true Israelites into the promised land. However, when Messiah returns, He, YahwehShua, will locate and lead the true Israelites into a glorious promised land. This land will extend from the Euphrates to the Nile rivers. Yahweh’s promise to Jacob is fulfilled.

Consider these Scriptures:

Ezekiel 37: 21-22, 25:

“And say unto them, thus saith the Sovereign Yahweh; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side and bring them into their own land.  And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all.  And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children’s children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.”

Amos 9: 13-15:

“Behold, the days come, saith Yahweh, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth the seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.  And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.  And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith Yahweh thy Elohim.”

These Scriptures are describing the TRUE Israelites! For more understanding about these 1,000 years read more of the book of Ezekiel. Those who call themselves Jews today are not of the True Israelites. When Messiah died on the tree his marriage covenant with the then Israelites was terminated.  The Jews were then scattered among the nations. All twelve tribes are scattered among the nations. But Yahweh knows exactly where they are all located and will find them when he returns.

Scholars have learned more about the history of those today who claim to be Israelites descended from Abraham. Their research reveals they are actually Gentiles. Unfortunately, the world is not well acquainted with the research that shows those who claim to be Jews are in fact descendants of the Khazars. This knowledge has tremendous ramifications concerning world events. Please do not take my word for this. Do your own research. To help you get started I am listing some references:

As you study and meditate upon this topic, keep in mind what we are told in Revelation 3: 9:  “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie.”

The State of Israel claims to be descendants of Abraham.  As your own study will reveal, there are scholars who refute this. This is a great deception being perpetrated on the world. When Messiah returns, He will reveal the TRUE physical and Spiritual Israelites. He tells us in John 14: 6: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

During the 1,000 years, flesh and blood Israelites will inhabit the promised land. They will be the true Israelites, not those of the synagogue of Satan. They will live in peace and prosperity never experienced before. Following their deaths, they will be judged during the Last Great Day.

The Spiritual Israelites are the firstfruits. These 144,000 will have spiritual bodies and be like Messiah. They will die no more. Revelation 7 describes their being sealed by Elohim and describes their tribal designations. Paul describes in Romans 11 the grafting in of those who are to be firstfruits.

We of the firstfruits look forward to observing the Day of Shouting. It foreshadows our destiny.  Perhaps it could be yours as well. That is up to Father Yahweh as revealed in John 6: 44:  “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him.”
